Thank you to the gorgeous Liz Jarvis from The Mum Blog for tagging me in this! It’s not be overly easy to be honest. 5 songs which sum up how your live your life, your philosophies? I’ve dug deep and I’ve hit YouTube and these are my 5 tunes.
I know that when songs are sung they mean something to the writer/singer and can mean something completely different to a listener so if my choices seem a bit off bat then so be it!
1. Cyndi Lauper – Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I’m a firm believer in fun. There are so many people out there who are only happy when they are miserable – I’m NOT one of them. If I can dance when doing the dishes I will, if I can skip in the park with my five year old, I will. Life is too short so I live it to the full – and have fun!
2. Respect (Aretha). Simple – I’ll treat you with respect, all I ask is that you return the favour.
3. Class of 99: Wear Sunscreen An infectious song full of some of the best advice ever!
4. Vonda Shepard. Neighbourhood. I was very lucky to have a great upbringing and have so many memories from early childhood onward. People I met, friendships I forged… all things that have shaped who I am today. For me, looking back isn’t always a bad thing but a great way to see how far you’ve come and how you arrived here.
5. Alanis Morissette – You Learn. We all mistakes and go through crappy times. I’m a firm believer in getting through it, processing, and learning from the experience before you move on (obviously in some situations this isn’t so easy but in general, the only way forward!).
