Dinner Party Tips For Those Who Love To Entertain

Dinner Party Tips For Those Who Love To Entertain

If you’re looking to create a dinner party that’ll live long in the memory of each and every one of your guests, these tips could help you. Dinner parties are an art form and they truly can be perfected if you put enough time, thought and effort into planning out and preparing yours. Whether you want to host a dinner party or work colleagues, friends, family or to celebrate a special event, you can really have a lot of fun with it. Here are the things you’ll need to get right in order to create the ideal dinner party.

Put Together a Seasonal Menu

When it comes to choosing what to eat, why not put together a seasonal menu that everyone can enjoy? Food that is in season is often the freshest and particularly with fruits and vegetables, you can get some fabulous tastes for very little cost. Ask your greengrocer what is in season when you plan your menu. Similarly, enjoy putting together meals that represent the season, i.e. spring, summer, autumn and winter. I’m most definitely an autumn gal and can think of a few favourites I would like to share with others.

Be the Ideal Host

Your role as the host of the dinner party is one that you should try to take seriously but not too seriously. If you approach this in the right way, you’ll be able to split your time across all the different things you’ll need to be doing. That includes cooking and plating up the food, being a social presence at the party and so on. Make sure that you relax enough to enjoy the occasion yourself though.

The Finishing Touches

There are lots of little things that make a big difference when it comes to preparing your dinner party. For example, the location of the dinner matters. The tone and atmosphere will be entirely different if you decide to take an alfresco approach to dining. And things like high-quality table napkins from Richard Haworth can really add the finishing touches that your guests will notice and appreciate a lot.

Get the Atmosphere Right

Getting the atmosphere of the dinner party right is something that you should definitely think about and take into account. Sometimes, you’ll want to create a sophisticated atmosphere that’s a little indulgent. But other dinner parties will call for something much more casual and informal. It all depends on the occasion and what kind of dinner party you want to create.

Ask About Dietary Requirements Well Ahead of Time

Finally, it’s important to do what you can to avoid any unnecessary disasters on the night of your dinner party. That means making sure that you ask well in advance if any of your guests have any special dietary requirements, either out of necessity such as allergies or choice such as being vegetarian or vegan.

For your dinner party to be remembered for all the right reasons, these are the things that you’ll need to get right. If you can tick these boxes, you’ll ensure each and every guest at your dinner party has a great evening and leaves with a smile on their face.

Finding Friendships

friendships

A lot of us take friendship for granted. Some of us might have had a group of friends at school that we keep in touch with or might have met new yet equally valuable friends as adults. Friendships don’t come easily to everyone though. Workmates and school playground acquaintances aren’t necessarily friends as such, although may be pleasant enough to spend time with. How do you meet new people and forge friendships as adults though?

Life is busy. There’s work, juggling the demands of family and everyday chores and obligations, all of which leave very little time for you to court friendships. For some people, employing True Pheromones to enhance their existing connections might be something to consider. For others, it may be a case of getting out there to see if you can add to your circle of people. There are a number of ways to meet new people and garner new friendships though if you’re willing to try something new.

Book Clubs

Please don’t think that book clubs are for the elderly or the boring, far from it. If you have a passion for reading and lively debate you might be surprised to find that your local book club is full of members of all ages, genders and interests. If the reviews of the movie The Book Club are anything to go by I’d say that joining a book club could be an excellent idea.

Singles Cruise Holidays

We’re not talking raunchy here, we’re talking about specialist cruise ship holidays designed with encouraging new friendships in mind. Who knows? You could go on a single’s cruise holiday and meet your new best friend.

Be a Volunteer & Forge New Friendships

Volunteering is a worthwhile pastime in many ways. Not only are you supporting a valuable charity or organisation in need, you are putting yourself in a position to meet new people. For example, our local library is volunteer-run entirely and requires over 40 volunteers to take short shifts over the course of a week in order to keep it open. With times to suit you, a volunteer position like this could be great in terms of not taking up too much of your time yet opening you up to the possibility of forging new relationships.

Exercise

As someone who couldn’t run if her bum was on fire, I’m not suggesting that you suddenly take on weekly Park Runs. Exercise is however great for your health and with so many different ways to exercise open to you it can be a great way to meet new like-minded people. Join a local rambling or walking group, go to yoga class, dance if that’s your thing, there’s no wrong way to exercise and they all offer you the opportunity to encounter new people.

In Summary

You now have a few ideas about where to meet new people to consider. Now think about any blocks that may be stopping you from accessing them. A lack of self-confidence can make it hard to approach new people and while that’s a blog post for another day, identifying such activities and giving them a go is a brilliant first step.

Good luck!
