Arts and Crafts For Family Fun

Participating in arts and crafts is usually seen as a very childlike activity. After all, we typically have this idea of seeing kids getting messy with paints, drawing all over walls and filling their school textbooks with doodles.

While not every child is born with these creative urges, getting involved with some kind of arts and crafts is a fantastic way to help your child develop, but also to get them interested in a productive hobby. What’s even better is actually participating in these activities with your children as a chance to bond with your family, and there are many advantages to this.

arts and crafts

It’s Memorable

You could always purchase something like a shelf or A3 frames to display your child’s art. It’ll create wonderful memories for your family and it’s a great way for your kids to receive compliments from family members and friends about their artwork. You could even spice it up a little by adding LEDs or hanging different arts and crafts from the ceiling instead of just the walls.

It’s Inexpensive

For the price of a video game, you could get your child hundreds of crayons and coloured pencils, dozens of sketch pads to draw on and even a small little art table. Arts and crafts are definitely not expensive when it comes to how much entertainment and productivity your child gets out of them. However, do be careful with hoarding these art supplies.

Although inexpensive, it’s very common to end up having boxes and boxes of art supplies stored up that you never use, so make sure you’re frugal with these purchases–they can get really expensive! The next time you’re looking for a budget and productive way to spend the night, consider getting some art supplies!

It Helps Unleash Their Creativity

Many children have creative urges. They want to do something with their hands, be it put together a puzzle, craft things with Lego or even create some art. It helps them develop a sense of creativity and gives them an outlet to express themselves. While it sounds incredibly cliché to say these things, art can be a unique way for your kids to communicate in their own way.

Arts and Crafts Develops a Hobby

Arts and crafts can be a wonderful hobby to develop together with your kids. You could go on holidays and bring sketch pads along to draw together, you could pose as a model for your child to draw, or you could even create something together for your child’s school project. There are countless opportunities when it comes to using arts and crafts as a bonding activity, and you’ll be surprised at just how much fun you and your kids can get out of it.

It Helps Develop Motor Skills

Whether it’s making bead art, learning to knit or simply just painting, it helps your child develop motor skills and improves their hand-eye coordination. In fact, setting up an arts and crafts station is one of the best ways for your children to improve their fine motor skills.

We’ve enjoyed many hours of arts and crafts with the boys and it really is the gift that keeps on giving. This week we’ll be decorating rocks again and hiding them in our community for others to find. What artsy things do you and your family enjoy?

Dear Cyber Bullies

I despise you. Tearing people down and belittling them on social media is no less hurtful or demoralising than if you were doing it in real life. You are still a bully, even if you hide behind a avatar.

I am watching you

Her who absolutely loathes cowardly bullies!

Dear Ebay Seller

Emailing me to ask me to leave you 5-star feedback because “Ebay are on my back to improve my selling performance”. Not cool. When I leave feedback, which will be soon, I will tell the truth, NOT what I am asked to put. Otherwise feedback means nothing.

Honestly!

From, Me.

Dear Kieran

Your first week back at school…. wicked! Your teacher came out yesterday to say you’d had a cracking start to the year. I’ve missed you but it’s been lovely when you come home. You and me are going out, just us tomorrow, to go to the library and to have a HUGE hot choc with flake bits, cream and marshmallows. I can’t wait!

Love you big man x

Dear Creatures.

What the hell? Yesterday, during the school run, a wasp got caught in my hair, and when I swerved to avoid the huge piles of horse shit on the path, a bird pooped on the buggy.

Thanks
