Believe it or not, you can create a dream business at home. I did. Not everyone can just quit their job to create this dream business that may not even work out. Taking a risk can be scary, trust me I know. At the same time, realising that doesn’t mean that you need to just give up on your dreams of being in business. It just means that you need to make them a lot more manageable. For a lot of people, the best way to start this is going to be to side hustle.
Now, when you side hustle, you have no risk. Sure, you’re putting your time in and that could all be for nothing. But more often than not, if you’ve got the drive and motivation to give up your time t create this business AFTER work and in your spare time, it’s going to pay off. You wouldn’t give it your all so intensely otherwise. And the best part is that, even if you are creating this business from home, you do not have to make it small. It can still be all you’ve imagined and more. Here’s how.
Have A Vision
First of all, you have to make sure that you have a vision for what you want to achieve. See it in your mind. Understand what you’re trying to build or what it looks like. Then look to recreate it. This might sound a little “woo” but trust me, it can work to visualise what you’re aiming for.
Get a Website
There’s a high chance that your business will begin online, so get ahead of the curve with a website of your own. Think thoroughly about the presence you want to have online, and consider purchasing your domain early. Especially if you come up with a snappy, cute or creative business name! After you create your website, visit Concise Technology’s website for cybersecurity, fast and innovative IT support and data protection!
Put The Time Into Your Dream Business
There are no shortcuts. You have to put the work in. You have to make sure that you’re allocating the time necessary to be able to grow. . Make time for your business and use your time well. You need to make this a priority if it’s going to work.
Go All In
From here, you then have to go all in. Don’t just work sporadically or give up. Give it your all. Make sure that you’re doing something every single day. That you’re chipping away at it. When you’re able to make this a commitment, it’s going to take off. Plus, when you make it a habit, it will be natural for you to just get to work. There are some great books about building habits that help you grow your business. One I read and identified was the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. It’s one of those books you stick post it notes in or use a highlighter on but worth buying.
Know Your Customer
If you’re worried that you aren’t going to be able to be taken seriously because you’re working at home, then you need to know your customer better. Know what they need and make sure that you can offer it, regardless of where you work and when. I’ve worked for myself for nearly thirteen years now. My business has survived “Muuuum, T has poo coming out of his nappy” while on a client call (8yrs ago and still memorable) and today (it’s half term)…..
Use The Right Experts
The next thing that you need to do here, is to make sure that you have all of the right experts at your disposal. Outsource where you can. Look for an accountant (I’d be lost without mine) and a graphic designer (I swear by My Little Graphics Co) as well as same day couriers and even a fulfilment service if it’s going to help. Spending on experts, allows you to grow in a much easier, quicker way.
Look After Yourself
If you truly want to create a dream business that is long-lasting and offers you the income you want and the fulfilment factor, you need to take care of yourself. Don’t burn the candle at both ends, don’t try and be everything to everyone and don’t lose sight of why you wanted to build a dream business in the first place.
Start with a side hustle and expand or just straight in, just make sure you do it right from the beginning to save yourself time and money along the way.
