Who remembers sitting with their Mum’s catalogue, a piece of paper and a pencil and going through writing down anything that they fancied so that Santa would know? This is different to the Santa letter of course however was a great way for parents to get inspiration (I get this now!).

Kieran at seven years old is the master of the Christmas list and being a savvy young man is now happy to browse websites (under supervision) for ideas for his list too. The internet has opened the door to so many fantastic retailers and websites although one of our favourites has been around for quite some time in one form or another and that is Hawkins Bazaar.

Children could actually fall into a Hawkin s Bazaar catalogue and be lost for some time (making list making a great wet day activity!) and it is easy to see why. The site is packed with ideas for Christmas and many at really good prices. Kieran’s current favourite are the Robo fish from Hawkins Bazaar and I have to say I like the idea of these too (no filter, no fish food, no slime….). Of course there are Lego figures and boxes, art and craft style toys and more on the list so I suspect Santa will find Xmas easy this year. Kieran has started writing one for Taylor too.

Posts about Christmas in August should of course be reported to Google as being hideous however when you have a large family (I am one of six, Roy is one of four, there are husbands, wives, partners, children…) starting to think about Xmas a little early helps lighten the load somewhat.

I find Xmas much easier nowadays as I can choose from a wide variety of retailers without having to trawl a packed shopping centre and this means I have access to big names and independents at the same time.  I do most of my shopping online for the same reason as it isn’t just gift-buying but anything you can choose online from party bags to groceries, DIY stuff and electrical.

Our Christmas list has been well and truly started, has yours?
