I don’t do many reviews nowadays but when the lovelies at Sunbuster Blinds got in touch and asked if I wanted to try out and review a blackout blind I jumped at the chance. We’ve been looking for a blind for Taylor’s room for a while with no luck. We don’t want permanent blinds (I have real issues with blind cords and safety!) and know what Kieran was like for pulling at things and climbing up so know a fixed blind is a no-go.

I did have a stick up blind which attached via strong velcro which was stuck around the outside of the frame. NEVER AGAIN! I am still removing black glue from the frame and one night it all fell off and I now have a lovely sticky strip on the carpet which will not go!

This is what happens when you buy cheap and rubbish stick up blinds that fall down every five minutes!

The Sunbuster Blackout Blind is the ideal solution. It fits inside your frame on the glass, leaves no residue and is fantastic at blocking out all of the light from outside, be it sunlight or headlights at night. Don’t get me wrong, I like sunlight in a room and with this blind I can fold the blind up. A great feature and so simple as the blind stays in place thanks to it’s clever design and strong internal magnet.

Installation.

In fairness this photo doesn't do the blinds justice (and ignore the rubbish curtains - we are mid redecorate!) but you get the gist, these are the blinds at half mast as I call them which means we get light without having to take anything off and on!

I don’t do fiddly. In fact I am so cack-handed that there is an unspoken rule in our house that anything that needs fixing / putting together or altering must wait until Daddy is home. There are good reasons for this but I won’t fill you in on my DIY disasters just yet. The instructions for fitting the blind are excellent; clear, concise and with colour photographs to show you exactly what to do. It is extremely simple. That said Roy still decided to do it himself, and went upstairs with his tool box and THAT face which means there is likely to swearing. Less than five minutes later he was back, tool box unopened (no tools are required), the air was not blue and the blind up and ready to go. So simple!

Very clear and easy to follow instructions

There is an easy to follow measuring guide on the website (it is easy to follow if you read it properly *dum de dum*), and a range of different colours available. The price depends on your individual order (the price is available as soon as you enter your measurements so no waiting around for someone to call you with a quote) but in my opinion the prices are very reasonable for such a useful piece of kit. Have a look at their gallery for a selection of different uses, styles and colours.

The Sunbuster Blackout blinds are bespoke in that they are make to measure so you really do get the best fit and no leaking light! Ideal for summer sun and for reducing heat loss in the winter. These blinds are fantastically child friendly, easy to fit and use and blinds that personally I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. In addition to the quality of the product I have to mention their customer service, any queries I’ve had have been swiftly answered and they have been really helpful.

Have a good browse around the Sunbuster website for more information and to order, and stay in touch for news, offers and with any queries on Twitter and Facebook.
